Explore Amish Country
While many people associate the Amish culture purely with Pennsylvania, there is a significant population in Ohio as well, mainly in Holmes County. This makes it a must-see site for anyone in the vicinity!
There’s plenty to do during your visit as well, including learning about the Amish culture, visiting an Amish farm for a tour, and shopping for homemade Amish goods like quilts and blankets. You’ll also want to sample some of the delicious Amish food that’s up for grabs, with their bakery items being well-known for being particularly good. You can even have a fun night out at the Amish Country Theater to round off your stay!
Mall of America
Shop til you drop in the midwest at the iconic Mall of America, situated in Bloomington Minnesota. Enjoy browsing the many stores, grab a bite to eat in the restaurants or check out the Nickelodeon Universe or the Crayola Experience if you are going with the kids.
Visit Detroit City
There are so many reasons to visit Detroit, Michigan, not least that the downtown area has gone through a significant revitalization in the last 5 years, making it an impressive cultural hub.
There are plenty of places in Detroit that count as must-see if you are in the area including the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, the Detroit Institute of Arts, and the Motown Museum.

Mount Rushmore National Memorial
Then there is the world-famous Mount Rushmore National Memorial which is most definitely a must-see site! Depicting the faces of US presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln carved into solid granite, visiting the memorial is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for many.
The site also houses a fun and engaging museum dedicated to the building of the memorial which was finished in 1941, and designed and built by the Borglums.
If roller coasters are your thing, then Cedar Point Amusement Park, Ohio, needs to be top of your must-visit list. Be sure to check out the Corkscrew and the Gatekeeper both of which rate a 5/5 on the intensity scale. The good news is that even if fast rides aren’t your thing, you’ll still find plenty to do at Cedar Point as they also offer more sedate experiences such as Funway Arcade, complete with a hall of mirrors, and boardwalk cruiser bikes for hire. There’s even a waterpark, golf course, and beach onsite, so there truly is something for everyone.
