I just launched my first Kickstarter campaign in the hopes of raising funds to create a photo book titled POLICE: Brotherhood in Uniform Around the World.

With your support, POLICE: Brotherhood in Uniform Around the World will be a beautiful coffee table book, full of images of policemen and policewomen photographed during a 27-month journey to 35 countries and 100+ cities. The photo book will be published in September 2019.
I am not a police officer, but I have a strong respect for the profession. With the help of this campaign, I will celebrate the pride, dedication, and sacrifice of police around the world.
Part of the campaign is the ability to gift a photo book to a US-based police officer who signs up on the ‘photo book wish list.’ Please let any of your hard-working friends in uniform know about the possibility of receiving a book as a gift.
I have over 60 photographs of police from cities around the world including Santiago, Athens, Tokyo, Siem Reap, Warsaw, and Cape Town. I will include photos of the location to help the reader understand the culture. There will be over 120 photos in the book.

Background:
I have had the unique opportunity to travel the world with my wife for the last two years, and our journey is coming to an end in early May. Part of our time spent traveling the world has been dedicated to telling our story and sharing travel tips on our Podcast, documenting my time in barber chairs in unique locations on World Barber Shop Adventures, and sharing our thoughts on travel, culture, and life on PassportJoy.com.
Sharing our experiences has been fun and rewarding, but I am very passionate about this photo book and the chance to share it with others who have the same respect for the police.
During the first week on our journey while in Santiago, Chile in February 2017, I came across a police officer on a horse that I photographed. Shortly thereafter, I took a photograph of a policeman in Valparaiso, Chile. At that point, I decided to capture any officer I came across during our trip.
All of the meetings were natural while I would go out on my long walks to discover the cities we were visiting. Not all police agreed to be photographed, so I would thank them for their service and continue on my way. There were times I would have to use Google Translate or request translation help from a local. I loved it when the police would ‘prep’ themselves for the photos by making sure their hats were proper and uniforms crisp. The complete randomness of the meetings made it extremely exciting as the list of cities continued to grow over the two years.
These funds will help with all of the design, production, and shipping costs for the photo book. I am working with a local publisher, and I have structured the pricing and rewards based on expenses for the project. The September 2019 publish date will give me the chance to manage the project at home when we return in May. The goal of $5,500 allows me to commit to publishing a minimum of 100 books to keep costs down.
